Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?

I found the cultural excursions to be the most exciting, for example, the trip to Yamanashi prefecture. Anything that involved the students to be outside of their normal classroom was something that I was able to look forward to.

What were the most productive and interesting aspects of the program for you? The least interesting and productive?

The most productive and interesting aspects of the program was that it was incredibly interactive. Not only that, students were placed in an environment where they had to speak Japanese in order to communicate with not only the instructor, but other students as well. The least interesting and productive was near the end of the program when we learned kanji. Until this point, I felt like I was getting a lot out of the course by going to class. When we started learning kanji, it felt like I could have done it on my own.

What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?

Games and pair work were undoubtedly the most helpful.

Testimonials

KCP is a really great program and I would highly recommend it to anyone thinking about studying Japanese in Tokyo. Although intense the sense of achievement by the end of just two and a half months is huge.
