KCP Winter 2018 Alum Holly Westbrook on Dining at Torikizoku

Do you love yakitori? Then you’ll love Torikizoku restaurant. Torikizoku is a yakitori restaurant that serves bite-sized chicken pieces on bamboo skewers, barbecued over a hot charcoal grill.

The staff of Torikizoku are always ready whenever you need anything. The menu has a number of choices. They also have a delectable secret sauce you can slather on anything. Sides are cabbage and spicy cucumber pickles that always come with your order. You ask for a refill of sides for free for as much as you can eat.

To get to Torikizoku from the East Exit of JR Shinjuku Station, walk north for five minutes. Or from the South Exit of Seibu Shinjuku Station, walk east for 3 minutes.

KCP Winter 2018 student Holly Westbrook shares her views on Torikizoku Restaurant:

“My friends and I love to frequent this restaurant. It is a favorite place to go after a stressful week of studying Japanese. It is a Torikizoku restaurant where everything, food/drink/dessert is 300 yen. It is a cheap way to go as a large group, with friends, and eat together. It is a perfect way to destress from studying and talk it out with your friends and classmates. Another bonus of going out with foreign classmates is a chance to practice speaking Japanese!  All the food and drinks here are very yummy.

As is its name, Torikizoku, most of the meat dishes are chicken, but they also, for some reason, have delicious churros.”
