KCP Community Update on COVID-19

KCP International is aware of the worldwide concern about the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and its possible effects on its community. This is to update all concerned on the situation and the steps KCP is taking to tackle it.

The Japanese government, through its Ministries, has implemented measures to contain the spread and even reduce the possible impact of COVID-19 by closing all public elementary, junior high, and high schools in the country until spring break as well as restricting inbound travel from coronavirus-affected countries.

KCP preparations

KCP is closely monitoring any developing information on the novel coronavirus and is taking the matter seriously and with outmost urgency. Take note that as of the publication of this article, no members of the KCP community have been treated or diagnosed with the coronavirus. The KCP campus is also taking the following measures against COVID-19:

  • Sanitation of common facilities such as front entrance, reception counter, elevator, and other areas that come into contact by many people numerous times a day.

  • Rooms in the KCP campus will have proper ventilation.
  • Students are encouraged to report any symptoms felt. For students who are not feeling well, to stay home and rest and to go see a doctor depending on the situation.
  • Alcohol sanitizers are provided in the school to promote hands sanitation to prevent infection.
  • Guidance for prevention of infection such as proper hand washing and overall hygiene, adequate sleep, and balanced daily diet. Washing hands is the most important so frequent hand washing is encouraged. As a precaution, avoid close contact with other people.

Classes for KCP students in all levels are going to be conducted online. Students are encouraged to stay home to avoid unnecessary public exposure.

Be responsible for your own health and safety

Disinfectant.

You can keep viruses at bay by following a few protective measures.

  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and water, for at least 20 seconds, and if soap and water are not available use a 60-95% alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Stay away from people who are coughing or sneezing and stay home from work and school when you feel sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a handkerchief, bent elbow, or tissue when you cough or sneeze. Dispose of the tissue immediately when you are done.

KCP responds to COVID-19 concerns

KCP students are asked to stay home for 2 weeks as Japan tries to get a handle on the virus. KCP staff are working on making improvements to the online class system in case the need arises to address a similar concern in the future. KCP Winter 2020 students who feel the need to return home will be provided with a similar online course option so they can complete the remaining 3 weeks of class at home.

KCP staff continue to keep abreast of the latest information on COVID-19 from the Centers for Disease Control, World Health Organization (WHO), and the Japanese Government. Regular updates on COVID-19 and any current events that would concern the KCP community will be shared via KCP’s website and other channels. Keeping vigilant by following the health measures, maintaining good hygiene and keeping your immunity strong will help you combat any virus!
